As Lieutenant Kitsuragi explained, a patrol officer is the lowest rank in the RCM, below lieutenant and sergeant.

"Hold on, you are a cop with the RCM?"

"Yes." She nods. "I am."

"Fine, I'm leaving." [Leave.]

"Okay." It looks like she's about to add something, but then she changes her mind.

"I'm on a murder investigation. Are you the cavalry?"

"I'm definitely not the cavalry."

"I'm a cop too."

"I know."

"He's the real deal, he has a badge."

It's hard to tell whether he's sarcastic or sincere, but if you had to guess you would say the lieutenant is being sarcastic.

"He's the real deal, he has a gun now."

"He's the real deal."

"Is everything alright? Why don't you want to talk to me?" (Proceed.)

"I don't know..." She's still avoiding your gaze. "I mean, why would I want to talk to you?"

...after all you've done -- is what her tone implies.

"It's cool to see another cop. I thought Kim and I were the only ones."

"No you're not, you're not the only cop in the world." She shakes her head and breathes out.

Something changes in her. It's pity. Pity comes over her.

"Okay, fine. Let's talk. What did you want?"

Hmm... what does one talk about with a fellow officer?

"Let's just do this by the book, okay."

"By the...?" She pinches the root of her nose.

"Why?! I bring word of the End to come."

"Of course he does..." The man at the table says to himself.

"Word of the End to come..." She shakes her head, tired.

Then something changes in her. It's pity. Pity comes over her.

"Have I wronged you? I've done that to a lot of people."

"No, you haven't wronged me. It's okay." She shakes her head and breathes out.

"God... I don't know why, I'm just trying to do my best..."

"But you're not trying your best, are you?" He says with a flash of anger.

"Calm down," she says to the man, then turns to you.

"I'm a deeply flawed individual, but I bring joy to the world."

"Do you now?" she asks, narrowing her eyes. After a moment she shakes her head.
